Direct Mail Marketing Definitions

The direct mail marketing definitions can be appropriately put as a type of advertisement that is sent through the mail targeting specific people mostly. People that are new to the business casually lump the definition of direct mail along with mail orders. There is a good way to tell this different phrase apart; direct mail is just an advertising medium. For example, print and or broadcasted media are advertising mediums. The print media is in words that are used in magazines or newspapers, and broadcast media uses T.V. or radio waves to transmit their message.  Then in direct mail advertisements and other printed documents are sent through the mail.

A mail order business is a different way to do business, sort of like telemarketing or retail. It is possible to run a mail order business without using direct mail. For example, Sears could never send out advertisements in the mail, but you could order things from them through the mail.
